I loved having stories in these two issues of X-Men Unlimited, mostly because they gave me a chance to salute some of the comics I was first obsessed with — the Byrne Claremont run of the early 1980s. X-Men Unlimited #32 put a “Behind the Music” spin on Dazzler, with hilarious art by my pal Jill Thompson (including a dead-on Byrne group shot in one panel.) I had three stories in X-Men Unlimited #33, a retelling of Mastermind’s downfall in X-Men #134 (the first issue of X-Men I ever bought), a Sentinels piece and a Black Queen/White Queen humor piece with gorgeous art by Esteban Maroto.
